The history of Bodega Batgara begins through the friendship between a restaurateur and a farmer, connoisseurs of the terroir and lovers of the vineyard. Located in the Alava town of Lezama, under the D.O. Arabako Txakolina, has more than 6 hectares of vineyards located 350 meters above sea level. An Atlantic climate with high rainfall and moderate temperatures, which together with the orography of the terrain (surrounded by the Gorbea Massif and the Sierra Salvada), provides landscapes of plains with alluvial meadows and others of soft hills between pine forests and centenary oaks.
Own vineyards worked under a viticulture of minimal intervention and reasoned. Plots located at 340 and 400 m. altitude, in Lezama and Aiara. Clayey-calcareous and clayey soil with sand stone.
100% manual in boxes of 15 kilos. Harvest in the second half of October. To make Urtaran, the areas with the most potential are selected within each plot and vinified separately.
Low performance vertical press pressing (60% Max). Spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in 600l chestnut and 400l French oak barrels. 8 months of permanence on the lees.
Bright straw yellow color. Aromas of ripe fruits, dry hay and a touch of heather with vanilla in the background. In the mouth it is round, with great volume, long, well integrated acidity and notes of ripe fruits. Mineral, elegant and with a slight touch of wood.
