The Katxiña Winery was founded in 2014 to bring all of you the Txakoli that we have been making in the family for generations.
The Katxiña winery represents the latest creation of the Zendoia family, founded in 2014 to bring the txakoli that the family has been making for generations to the public. Located in the coastal town of Orio, where the house txakoli accompanies some of the best dishes of traditional Basque cuisine, with special attention to seafood. The txakoli from this winery brings the spark to all the meals served in the family restaurant, a local wine that combines perfectly with the magnificent grilled fish dishes that we find in this establishment.
VINEYARD and WINEMAKING
Katxiña txakoli is made with the Hondarribi Zuri grape variety, harvested in the 8 hectares that surround the winery, all facing south, planted on a slope that ends in the Oria river. The elaboration is carried out by the traditional methods of elaboration of the txakolis with D.O. Getariako Txakolina since the Middle Ages, combining it with the most innovative production equipment.
The fruity character of the variety, combined with the breeze from the Cantabrian Sea, makes Txakoli Katxiña a fresh, vibrant, fruity and fine wine. The aromatic intensity spreads very well in the mouth and leaves a pleasant and long-lasting taste.
