Txakoli Itsasmendi LAMIARAN

In 2022, the Mundaka vineyards were produced for the first time under the name Lamiaran. Vineyards to which my father Alejo dedicated the last years of his life and which, together with my mother, we shared with enthusiasm. “Lamiaran” is a place in Mundaka. Its name represents a feeling, that which is kept from those moments that a father dedicates to his son, to guide him in the good work, day to day.

VINEYARD AND PRODUCTION
There are two microvineyards, located in two different places in Mundaka, arranged in terraces, with a bedrock made up of alternating thin layers with sandstones and lutites, known as black Flysh. The soil is of a silty-loam type. 16-year-old vineyards, from a mixture of 80% Hondarrabi zuri and 20% Hondarrabi zuri zerratia, of high density. Very laborious manual production, seeking the maximum potential of the place.
The climate of Mundaka is Atlantic, with a great influence from the Bay of Biscay, which cushions the extremes of temperature throughout the year, with a south-southeast orientation sheltered by the western mountains of the Ria de Urdaibai.
After fermentation, the wine is aged on its lees for 6 months in 500-litre acacia and stainless steel barrels, with a gentle batonnage.

TASTING NOTES
Straw yellow with greenish edges. Complex nose where we can find herbaceous, citrus and white fruit, mixed with flowers and balsamic that give it great freshness. Subtle entry with a great mouthfeel that envelops the palate, enveloping it with its silkiness and turning it into a friendly and pleasant wine without losing the freshness of the Atlantic character of its identity.
