Description
Txakoli Hiruzta Red Wine
DESCRIPTION
This red txakoli is a modern-style red txakolí that is made from grapes of the native Hondarrabi Beltza variety grown in the property’s vineyards in Hondarribia in the Basque Country.
VINEYARD
Own 17 has. located around the winery on the foot of Mount Jaizkibel. Its orientation towards noon protects it from the wind and humidity of the nearby Cantabrian Sea, allowing it to enjoy excellent sunshine. Vineyard cultivated on a trellis with the double Guyot pruning system. Plantation frame: 2.60 x 1.20 (3,200 vines / hectare). Soil with a lot of bedrock and clay marl.
ELABORATION
The grapes are grown on Hondarrabi Beltza’s own vineyard plots. Collection and transport in small capacity boxes. The destemmed and crushed vintage fermented in stainless steel. At the end of the fermentation, the txakoli is passed into barrels for malolactic fermentation. It remained in barrels with its lees for 6 months until it was bottled. Used French oak barrels have been used to further preserve the fruit in the wine.
TASTING NOTES
Cherry red color with intense aromas of red and black fruits where strawberry and cassis stand out, with a balsamic background and high quality vegetable notes. On the palate it is very fresh and balanced, with a good mid palate and a long finish full of varietal aromas.
GASTRONOMY
Rarely cured and semi-cured cheeses, sausages, white meat and vegetable stews. Serving temperature: 15 -17ºC. Store in a cool place, in the absence of lighting and in a place free from foreign odors. Ready to drink now and with a good evolution in the bottle for the next two years.
