Description
Txakoli Gure Ahaleginak
Gure Ahaleginak is a family winery nestled in a beautiful setting (formerly known as the “Ruta de las Bodegas”) surrounded by its own vineyards which are equipped with anti-frost systems, both for spraying and aeration, since Orduña, the only City of the Señorío de Bizkaia is located at an altitude of 314 m, which influences its weather: sunny days that are not excessively hot and cool nights.
Orduña is located in the depression formed by the Nervión riverbed. Deep soils make our vineyards produce harmonically acidic and sugary musts. Aromatic and taste substances with a pleasant perception in the mouth. It produces a full-bodied and excellent quality txakoli made with grapes from the family vineyard, so the entire process is carried out without leaving the property.
Gure Ahaleginak is a Basque term that means “our effort”. It gives its name to the first wine from the winery, which began to be produced at the beginning of the 90s. It thus represents the work, effort and perseverance of a family that from the beginning has carried out the entire process of making its wines: from field work in the vineyards (assembly of trellis, pruning and cultivation of the vine) until the production, bottling and final distribution.
ELABORATION
The grapes are harvested by hand and brought to the winery in baskets of about 16 kilos. There they are destemmed and pressed in a pneumatic press. Once the must is obtained, it is transferred to the deposits to be cleared. Fermentation is controlled at 15ºC for 20-25 days, and at the end of this process the wine remains on its lees for about 2 months. Periodic bâtonnages are performed during this time to give it volume.
TASTING NOTES
Fresh and fruity nose with a predominance of white fruit (green apple and pear) and a hint of citrus. On the palate it is balanced, light but with volume. The slight acid-bitter sensations make our wine a young txakoli faithful to what Bizkaiko txakolina represents.
