The history of Gañeta txakoli dates back to the 19th century, when grandfather Manuel planted Ondarrabi Zuri vineyards for the traditional production of txakoli. Tradition that his son Jose María would continue, who instilled the passion for txakoli in the following generations. In 1992, Julian Ostolaza and Itziar Etxeberria founded the Gañeta winery and built a small winery in the Agerre-Goikoa farmhouse to begin marketing txakoli. Their innovative spirit has led them to equip and modernize the facilities over the years, in order to adapt to the new methods of production and obtain excellent quality txakoli. We currently have modern facilities for the production and bottling of Gañeta txakoli.
In 2021 a new and exciting change arrives with Paula and Enaitz Ostolaza, who take over from the Gañeta winery. A new generation that is very aware of the history of the Gañeta winery and is determined to maintain the brand and the legacy received from their uncles, Julian Ostolaza and Itziar Etxeberria, founders of the winery.
The quality of the product, the respect for the roots and the value of the craftsmanship are the compass that guides this new stage. A stage that opens the winery to the public with guided tours and tastings.
The Gañeta txakoli is pale green with light yellow rims and certain levels of needle, transparent and shiny. The nose is open, with lots of fruit. Aromas that remind us of citrus and exotic fruits. Piercing attack for its needle and fatty levels. The palate, round, pleasant and persistent. Intense and slightly acid finish.
